EUGENE, Ore. — Eleanor Haring scored 16 points as Oregon defeated BYU 70-61 Saturday night.
Cicely Oaks added 12 points, and Tamika Nurse and Kaela Chapdelaine each added 11 for the Ducks (9-3, 1-1 Pac-10), who were 26-for-31 from the free-throw line.
Oregon senior Jessie Shetters added seven points, 13 rebounds and four blocks.
Dani Kubik-Wright had 20 points and eight rebounds for BYU (9-4) in the nonconference finale for both teams.
The Cougars, who snapped a five-game win streak, open Mountain West play Jan. 6 at Air Force.
Oregon resumes Pac-10 play Friday at USC.
The Ducks scored 10 points off 14 BYU turnovers to build a 30-23 halftime lead.
Shetters' free throw with 12:25 to go gave Oregon a 42-32 lead.
The Cougars pulled within 45-41 on a Mallary Gillespie jumper three minutes later, but Oregon used an 8-0 run to take its largest lead at 55-43.
Free throws sealed it down the stretch for for the Ducks, who made 16 consecutive attempts from the free-throw line. They hit 23-for-26 free-throw attempts in the second half.
Nurse was 8-for-8 from the charity stripe and Oaks was 6-for-6.
Lauren Riley had 13 points for BYU before fouling out with 6:07 remaining.
