Leland G. Larsen 1924 ~ 2006 Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, Leland Larsen passed away on January 29, 2006, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on March 7, 1924, in Centerfield, Utah, to Harold C. Larsen and Ellen Golda Petersen. He attended South High School and the University of Utah. He married Loie Gunn White on September 11, 1944, in the Salt Lake Temple. Served his country during World War II as a bomber pilot in the Army Air Corps. He also served in many LDS church positions, including scoutmaster, bishop, high councilor, temple presidency, ordinance worker and sealer. He and his companion of 61 years served three temple missions in London, England; Washington, D.C. and Manila, Philippines. He worked as an electrician and contractor, then owned his own engineering firm. He had a great respect for nature; loved gardening and the outdoors. He was an accomplished artist and woodworker, winning ribbons at state and county fairs. A friend to everyone he met, he was always willing to help his neighbors. Family was his life. He is survived by his wife Loie Gunn White Larsen, daughters Ruth (Tillman) Chaplin, Sharon (John) Hom, Becky (Dale) Bills, Beth (Nils) Lingwall and sons Gerald (Jackie) Larsen, Mark (Ann) Larsen and Bryan (Melodie) Larsen. Also survived by sister Virginia Moss, brother Clyde (Louise) Larsen, 40 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Keith and Boyd and one grandson. Funeral services will be held February 2, 2006, at 12:00 noon at Kenwood 1st Ward Building, 3080 South 1765 East, Salt Lake City. The family will receive friends February 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, and also from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Kenwood Ward prior to the funeral on Thursday.
