James B. Utley (Jim) James B. Utley, 63, passed away on January 27, 2006 at his home in Henderson, Nevada of Cardiopulmonary disease. Jim was born on September 13, 1942 in Monroe, Utah. He was the sixth of seven children born to Jay and Louisa Utley of Joseph, Utah. Jim attended Joseph Elementary, Elsinore Junior High, and South Sevier High School. He was popular in school. He held several student body offices and played second base on the varsity baseball team. Jim attended Utah Trade Technical School on a scholarship. Jim married a beautiful redhead named Karlean Gleave from Richfield, Utah in 1962. Jim and Karlean made a great couple, cruising in their classic white 1956 Chevy hardtop. They were married for 33 years and had four children. They were later divorced. Jim and Karlean made their home in the Salt Lake City area. Jim was the night shift foreman for Rocky Mountain Machinery for many years. Later, he owned and operated Target Machine Shop in Murray. Jim worked long hours and weekends steadily throughout most of his career. He enjoyed his work and he became good friends with many of is coworkers. Jim loved bird hunting and owned and raised Brittany Spaniel dogs. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed family vacations at Pine Lake in the summer. Jim is survived by three sons and one daughter, Richard, Kevyn, Kim and Ben Utley of Sandy, Utah; and four granddaughters and two grandsons. He is also survived by three brothers, one sister and one brother-in-law, Margo Christiansen, Walt Lefevre, LaVoy, Ronald Utley and Kent Utley. His parents, one sister, Cleo LeFevre, one brother-in-law Ardean Christiansen, and one sister-in-law, Patsy Utley preceded him in death. Services will be held Friday, February 3, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Magelby Mortuary, Richfield UT. Burial will be at the Joseph City Cemetery at 12:00 noon.
