Dorah Lunt Smith 1912 ~ 2006 Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Dorah Lunt Smith, 93, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2006 in Salt Lake City. She was born 10 September 1912 in El Paso, Texas, the eldest of eight children of Edward and Lettie Stowell Lunt. She learned to work hard as she grew up in Duncan, AZ where her father was a rancher. She loved learning, attending Gila Academy and Arizona State University where she graduated in early childhood education. She became a master teacher, making a difference in the lives of her many students. She lived a life of committed service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including a mission to the Central States as a young woman. Her marriage to Ralph Smith, 24 December 1937, in the LDS Mesa Temple brought her much joy and happiness. They taught school together in Thatcher, Ft. Thomas, and then 20 years in Casa Grande, AZ. After retirement, they served a mission together in Fresno, CA before moving to Mesa, AZ in 1982. Her life of love and service has been a blessing to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by: her husband; her sisters Almeda Wilkins, Elda Jensen, Betty Virgin; her brothers Arcel and Waldon. She is survived by: her brothers Garth (Pima, AZ) and Jack (Belgrade, MT); her children Ralph (Val) of Safford, AZ; Jim (Clara) of Prescott, AZ; Jeannette (Clyde) Barson of Carlsbad, CA; and Joan (Robert) Smith of Salt Lake City, UT; 18 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, 25 February, at the Church Street chapel (3610 W. Church Street, in Thatcher, AZ. Family and friends may call at the chapel 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to services. They may also call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 22 February, at the Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT. Interment will be at the Thatcher Cemetery.
