With horn blasts heard for miles, the Queen Mary 2, center, paid tribute Thursday to its historic predecessor during its first visit to the West Coast. The world's largest ocean liner moves near its namesake the Queen Mary, docked at upper right, at the Long Beach Harbor, in Long Beach, Calif. Thousands of people lined the channel walkway and swarmed the decks of the old liner as its 21st century successor arrived. The Queen Mary, a 1934 vessel, has been docked in California as a tourist attraction and hotel for nearly 40 years.
