WEST VALLEY CITY — Police have released the name of the victim of a hit and run Thursday.

Abdul R. Khan, 53, remains in critical but stable condition at LDS Hospital, said Lt. Bill Froehlich, a spokesman for the West Valley Police Department.

A passer-by noticed Khan lying on the sidewalk near 2700 S. Redwood Road and flagged down a West Valley police officer, Froehlich said.

Khan suffered head trauma and lacerations to his hip, arms and legs. The vehicle that hit Khan was eventually tracked down. Its owner reported it stolen, and police are following leads to determine who was driving the car.
