LUCASVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Ohio on Tuesday executed a man convicted of raping and strangling two women during a five-month spree of assaults while he was on drugs.

Glenn L. Benner II, 43, died by injection at 10:15 a.m. at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.

Benner admitted committing horrific crimes while under the influence of drugs.

He was convicted of kidnapping, raping and murdering Trina Bowser, 21, in 1986, leaving her body in the trunk of her car along a highway in Tallmadge, the town where they grew up across the street from each other.

A year earlier, he had strangled Cynthia Sedgwick, 26, of Cleveland Heights, in Cuyahoga Falls after a George Thorogood concert.
