Dear Readers: We printed some information on cell phones and asked you to send in your favorite cell-phone hint. Here are some we got:
Whenever I meet someone and we want to exchange phone numbers, I never seem to have a piece of paper, so I just put the new number in my cell phone, along with the new acquaintance's name! — Susan Rapoport, Fort Myers, Fla.
When you can't explain style, color, shape, size or specific brand or pattern, take a picture using your cell phone to show exactly the piece of furniture or item you're requesting. This will help the person buying to get the correct item and could also help with comparison shopping. —Pam Wyant, Springfield, Mo.
I have an allergy to metal and am not able to wear a watch. My cell phone is my watch now. — Carol Beyer, North Fort Myers, Fla.
My husband and I use our cell phones (we each have one) to talk back and forth when he is outside working. — B.E.T.S. in San Antonio
I use my cell phone to store my car and truck license-plate numbers in case the plates are stolen or I need the numbers for forms, etc. — Ray C., Springville, Utah
I use the calculator on my cell phone when I do all my running-around errands each week. Not only does it help me to keep track of what I'm spending, but it also helps to determine which size, etc., is the best deal. — Joann R., via e-mail
I needed to give a man an address while talking to him on his cell phone. He was in his car in another city and had no pen. It was agreed that we would hang up and when I re-dialed him he would not answer. I merely spoke the address to the answering device, and he retrieved it when needed. — Floyd, via e-mail
We use our cell phone to entertain the baby when she is fussy in the car. We show her the lights and go through the ring tones, and she seems to be amazed at all the lights and sounds. — Julie M., via-e-mail
I use the bright screen as a flashlight to help me see when moving around the room while my wife is sleeping and to look for things in the dark, like when an item is dropped in a movie theater. — Steve Truong, Placentia, Calif.
A cell-phone use that I have found to be quite handy is to use my cell phone as a ruler. It is exactly 4 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide (All cell phones are different sizes. So folks, measure yours today. — Heloise). Many times, if I need to measure something small, I just pull out my phone instead of trying to locate a ruler! — Rick Truax, Baton Rouge, La.
Cell phones are not just phones anymore! They have morphed into cool tools for many uses. Thanks to all who wrote. — Heloise
