Shirley Joyce Hoggan (Beadles) (Hartman) Schluter 1925 ~ 2006 Shirley Hoggan Schluter, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and family on April 5, 2006. Born Shirley Joyce Hoggan in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dean C. and Elsie Hoggan. She graduated from South High School in 1942. Shirley loved life and especially bright colors. She was as colorful as life itself. Her pioneering spirit served her well. Her green thumb provided fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs from her gardens for her own special recipes and colorful flower arrays for her table. She could sew, cook and bake with the best of them. She served our country in World War II at the Naval Supply Depot in Syracuse. During the sixties she built calculators and computers for Texas Instruments. In Hawaii she enjoyed a career on radio as the character "Tiny Bubbles" and in television as "Shirley the Prize Lady" on CBS. She moved from Hawaii to Germany in the seventies where she opened her own antique shop called "Mom's". She returned home to Salt Lake City in the nineties. After the death of both their spouses, Shirley reunited with her long lost South High School (Class of '42) sweetheart, R. J. Schluter. They were separated after high school when R.J. left to serve our country in the South Pacific only to meet again in 1996 after 55 years of separation. It was love at first sight again and they were married in 2000. She is survived by her husband, Raymond J. Schluter, three children, Bill (Ingrid) Beadles, Bob (Robin) Beadles and Kathy Beadles along with her brother Don (Joan) Hoggan and sister Betty (Don) Slagowski, six grandsons, three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters and R. J.'s son, Vic (Debbie) Schluter. Preceded in death by her husband (1944 - 1969) Robert V. Beadles former Mayor of Clearfield, Utah; her second husband (1971-1996) Captain Wayne E. Hartman, her handsome brother Dean (Verla) Hoggan and her wonderful sister Thelma Hoggan (Frank) Clark; also by R. J.'s son, Mark (Rita) Schluter. Shirley was loved by many and will be missed.
