Jane Child Grether Our Beloved Mother Our lovely mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away very peacefully Thursday April 6, 2006 in Sandy, Utah, at the age of 81, of natural causes. Jane was born September 23, 1924 in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Stanley N. and Elsie Child. Jane often spoke of the loving family she was raised in. She graduated from East High School. Attended the University of Utah and LDS Business College. Jane was a trained comptometer operator. She was a model for ZCMI, and other department stores in the '40s. She married Henry Moroni Grether Jr. June 16, 1944 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They had been married for 59 years when Henry preceded her in death in 2003. We know Jane is happy to be with Henry and her family that preceded her. Shortly after marrying, they lived in Minneapolis while Henry completed his LLM. They moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where they resided 42 years. When her husband retired from the University of Nebraska, they lived in San Diego for 10 years before returning to Utah in 1996. Jane's life imparts a legacy of love, faith, compassion, and courage to all those who were touched by her. Her faith and strength brought her through difficult trials with her health throughout her life. Her family was her greatest love and priority and she dedicated her life to being a wife and mother. She also served her community and church in many capacities; as chair of the Advisory Commission to the Juvenile Courts of Nebraska, president of the Lincoln Attorney Wives, and ward Relief Society president for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the term of five bishops. Jane and Henry served together as ordinance workers in the LDS San Diego Temple. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Lyman) Condie of Stansbury Park, UT, Trace (Karen) Grether of Omaha, NE, and Sharon Grether of Salt Lake City; four grandchildren, Marie Condie Farley (Ken), David Condie, Kari, and Kristin Grether; two brothers, Stanley R. Child and Boyd R. Child, both of Salt Lake City. Funeral services celebrating Jane's life will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12th.
