Myrtle S. Lester 1913 ~ 2006 On April 7, 2006, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Myrtle Lester passed away in West Valley City. Myrtle was born to John and Mariettal Holm on August 13, 1913 in Holladay, Utah. She graduated from Granite High School in 1931. On June 16, 1932 she married Sidney I. Lester in Coalville, Utah. They were longtime residents of Garfield. Myrtle had three sons, Terry (LaRene), Willis (Dean), and Stephen (Michael), 10 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. Mom was a member of the LDS Church She was preceded in death by her husband and four sisters, Sylvia, Elsie, Francis and May. Mom drove an Army truck during World War II at the Tooele Army Depot and later transferred to the accounting department where she retired in 1972. She was active in the Democratic Party and was a member of the Knights of Pythias Sisters. Mom and dad were avid fishermen and loved to travel in the winter to Arizona. Mom loved to play hide-in-seek with all of her grandchildren and adored every one of them. After dad passed away, she traveled to the Rose Bowl Parade every year and took vacations to most of the Pacific Islands. Though small in stature, mom had a big heart and a great sense of humor, which she shared with everyone, including strangers she just met. Funeral services will be held Tuesday , April 11, 2006 at 12:00 noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
