Laura Anderson Sween Another Downwinder Passes Laura Anderson Sween passed away on March 20, 2006, after struggling valiantly against brain cancer for more than 16 years. Laura was born in Richfield, Utah on July 26th, 1960 to Charles Victor and Florence Howard Anderson. Her childhood was spent in Richfield, Cedar City and Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1978 and spent one-year studying art at the University of Utah before moving to Lahaina, Hawaii in 1979. She graduated from the Heritage College of Beauty in 1984. Her career included work at the Utah State Attorney General's Office, the Utah Travel Council, and the Salt Lake County Convention and Visitor's Bureau. Laura married William Sween on April 11, 1997, and together they became the proud parents of April Anderson Sween and Alta Anderson Sween. She is survived by her husband Bill and their two young daughters, April and Alta, of Salt Lake; her parents, Skip and Minnie Anderson of Orem; one brother, Chuck (Dana) Anderson of Pagosa Springs Colorado; sister Paula Anderson of Salt Lake; sister Maria (Chris) Beveridge of Heidelberg, Germany; her grandmother Marvel Vogel of Las Vegas, NV and all of Bill's family from Maryland. She was preceded in death by her grandfather S. Victor Anderson of Willard, Utah and grandparents Roy P. and Florence Howard of Sigurd, Utah. Laura loved the mountains, the ocean and the desert. She was always in search of her next big adventure - snow skiing in Utah, scuba diving and skydiving in Hawaii, water skiing and partying with friends on a houseboat at Lake Powell or in a cabin at Bear Lake. Laura loved excitement but she loved her family most of all. Her proudest achievement was the birth of her two children. She will be dearly missed by all who are left behind to contemplate her courageous life and to mourn her early passing. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Laura's memory to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, 2000 Circle of Hope #5127, SLC, Utah 84112. A celebration of her life will be held on Bill and Laura's wedding anniversary, April 11, 2006, 1:00 p.m., at the University Park Marriot located at 480 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City, Utah.
