Ruth Standish Glanville Colt 1912 ~ 2006 Our loving mother and grandmother, Ruth Standish Glanville Colt, died peacefully April 7, 2006. Born March 10, 1912 in Salt Lake City to Samuel Standish and Viola Lochrie. She married Hal Lynn Glanville in 1930; he died in 1941. In 1946 she married George Stewart Colt, Jr. She was highly regarded as an extremely gifted musician, playing professionally in big bands and small combos until her retirement at age 70. For several years she served as secretary of the Musicians Union Local 47 in Salt Lake. As a member of the LDS Church, she contributed her talents in Relief Society and in ward choirs. She was a piano instructor for many students. Survived by son, Jerold (Dottie) Glanville; daughters, Joanne Glanville Crandall and Lynne Glanville Lithgow; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husbands; three sisters; daughter, Georgia Lois Colt; grandson, Michael Lithgow. Her delightful humor and warmth will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends. Special thanks to the staff of Stratford at Draper, as well as all of her wonderful neighbors in Taylorsville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12th, 11:00 a.m. at the Paradise Ward, 1555 Lovely Road. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
