EMERY COUNTY — A 59-year-old woman was found dead late Saturday and a 59-year-old man was arrested for investigation of murder, Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon said Sunday.

The victim was identified as Antoinette Corum, a Tennessee native who had been living in the Cedar City area. She was found in a motor home registered in her name.

The name of the arrested man was not released, but the sheriff said the man is originally from East Carbon and also has been living in the Cedar City area.

Guymon said sheriff's office dispatchers received a call about 9 p.m. Saturday that someone had been killed in the Horse Canyon area and that a man had traveled into Carbon County and surrendered to the East Carbon Police Department.

About 6 p.m., the man called his brothers, who live nearby, and said he had done "something bad and that he was going to take his own life," according to a press release from the sheriff's department. The man then told his brothers where they could find him. They talked with him for several hours, managed to take control of his weapon and then drove him to purchase alcohol in East Carbon, where Carbon County dispatchers were notified by the brothers.

The victim's body was taken to the medical examiner's office.

Emery County sheriff's detectives were in Cedar City on Sunday to search the victim's home for evidence, with assistance from the Cedar City Police Department.
