FARMINGTON — Lt. Col. Jay C. Hess, USAF (Ret.), a native of Farmington and a former Vietnam POW, will address the Farmington American Legion Post 27, of which he is a member, during the post's regular meeting on Thursday.

Post 27 members will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the County Clerk's Conference Room, in the Davis County Courthouse. Those attending should use the east entrance of the courthouse.

Hess was shot down over North Vietnam in August 1967 and remained a prisoner of the North Vietnamese for six years, during which he was held in the infamous Hanoi Hilton and other detention camps. He was shot down after 35 combat missions. He was awarded numerous decorations including the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Prisoner of War Medal.

All Legion members, as well as other interested persons, are invited to attend.
