A Cedar City woman who was found dead Saturday night had been strangled, investigators said Monday.
The body of Antoinette Corum, 59, was found in a motor home in a camping area off U.S. 6 near Horse Canyon in Emery County.
The woman's 59-year-old boyfriend, whose name was expected to be released today after an initial appearance in 7th District Court, is a suspect in the case. The man, originally from East Carbon, was living with Corum.
He called his brothers about 6 p.m. Saturday to say he had done something bad and was threatening suicide, according to the Emery County Sheriff's Office. His brothers talked to him for several hours and finally convinced him to drop the gun he was holding.
The man eventually went with his brothers to buy alcohol in East Carbon, where his brothers called police and officers picked him up, according to the sheriff's office.
Detectives were at Corum's trailer Monday searching for evidence, said Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon. A search warrant had also been served on property in Cedar City late Monday. The boyfriend was being uncooperative with investigators, he said.
"He's not talking to us," Guymon said.
Corum, originally from Tennessee, and her boyfriend had reportedly been dating for more than five years, Guymon said.
Detectives had information Monday that led them to believe the boyfriend was arrested and sent to prison in either 2001 or 2002 when the two lived in Nevada, Guymon said.
