My hat is off to our 104 part-time legislators who give of their time and resources. However, the successful legislator is often judged as the one who introduces the most bills. Last session we saw almost 800 new proposed laws. This exorbitant amount of legislation is virtually impossible for one person to digest during that short time. Some of these bills were trivial and took away from the important work of government. Others were used to benefit one special interest group. The vast majority were not ruled on until the last week.

I would hope the 800 new bills could be reduced to less than half so we are not faced with foolish laws that need to be repealed the following year.
