Discussions on how to pay for major traffic arteries through the Salt Lake Valley seem to point more and more to the one and only solution: toll roads. More roads, more traffic, more gasoline, more accidents, more traffic deaths, more, more, more.

Instead, why not first provide more mass transit? Millions of people ride the metro in Washington, D.C., or the BART in California.
