Steven Dale Nielsen 1946 ~ 2006 Steven Dale Nielsen, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother finished his earthly life April 10, 2006 after a valiant battle with cancer. He returned home to his Heavenly Father where he will continue to teach and share the gospel. Born December 10, 1946 in Logan, Utah. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Michelle Forgie Nielsen, his children Steve (Wendy), Keven (Natasha), Jon (Stephanie), Kip (Leslie), Coby (Heather), Cami (Nik), and grandchildren Madison, Nicholas, McKenzie, Amberlie, Tyler, Corbyn, Avery, and Brooklin along with his parents Pat and Dale and siblings Michael, Patty, Jody, David and Jeff. He was a devoted member of the LDS Church, serving a mission in Brazil and in many other capacities affecting countless lives through his service and wealth of knowledge of the gospel. Steve enjoyed many different activities throughout his life. He loved camping, and motorcycling and was always deepening his knowledge through reading many different types of books. He enjoyed his work with the Artificial Heart program at the University of Utah and played a major role in the design of the heart pump. Later in his career, he worked at Evans & Sutherland in the flight simulator division. He was a very skilled craftsman in many areas, particularly in woodworking. Many people have benefited from the results of his knowledge and skills. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 13, 2006 in the Union Park 3rd Ward located at 615 East 8060 South. Family and friends may visit from 10:00-11:30 a.m. with funeral services starting at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 So. Funeral directors, Redwood Memorial Mortuary. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests donations be made in Steve's memory to the Huntsman Cancer Institute for further research into a cure for cancer.
