OREM — Utah Valley State College's Theatre Department presents the original work "Enchanted April — the musical" in the Black Box Theater.
With multiple awards under her belt including an Emmy and a writer's guild award, playwright Elizabeth Hansen has crafted a musical production appropriate for all ages.
"Enchanted April — the musical" is set a few short years after World War I and tells the story of four disparate women who long for a respite from their dreary and dull lives. They find themselves at San Salvatore, a medieval castle high above a bay on the Italian Riviera. Lulled by the magical and gentle spirit of the Mediterranean, they gradually shed their public personas, their tempers and their intolerance to discover a harmony each of them has longed for, but none has ever known.
"The story is truly enchanting," said James Arrington, director of the show.
"The scoring for the music is beautiful and moving. We are honored to showcase this original piece for the first time."
