PROVO — The BYU women's soccer team will conclude spring competition with a doubleheader Friday afternoon at the south stadium.
The Cougars will host two in-state rivals — Weber State at 1 p.m. and conclude with UVSC at 5 p.m.
BYU has compiled a 6-1-1 record in spring play, including a significant win over Utah, 2-0, at last week's BYU Outdoor Invitational. The team also managed to pull off an impressive 2-1 victory over U-20 Women's National Team last month in Texas.
In the second game of the spring season, BYU rallied to notch a 2-1 victory over Weber State. Last season, the Cougars beat the Wildcats 5-0 and also recorded a 3-0 preseason-scrimmage victory over UVSC.
MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: After two hard losses at the hands of No. 7 Long Beach State last weekend, the BYU men's volleyball team finds itself fighting to salvage a favorable spot in the postseason as it heads into the season finale this weekend at Hawaii.
With a conference record of 14-6 (18-6 overall), the Cougars hold the third spot in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation by a narrow margin.
They are a half a game ahead of Pepperdine, one game ahead of CS Northridge and two games ahead of Long Beach State.
Trailing Hawaii by three games, the Cougars will not be able to move up in the standings even with two wins, but with two losses and wins by other teams, the Cougars, who were on top of the conference at one point this season, could find themselves as low as sixth heading into the conference tournament.
The top four teams in the conference will host first-round matches in the conference tournament on April 22.
The Warriors of Hawaii, meanwhile, trail league-leading UC Irvine by just one game and figure to pose a fierce challenge for the Cougars as they enter the matches with aspirations of overtaking the conference's No. 1 spot.
SUMMER SPORTS CAMPS: With less than three weeks remaining before the start of BYU's summer sports youth camp schedule, spots are filling fast.
The camps cater to athletes and performers from a broad spectrum of interests, from folk dancing to football, and feature instruction from the coaching staffs at BYU.
The first camp, the Spring Volleyball Camp, is scheduled for April 28 and will feature instruction from BYU women's volleyball coach Jason Watson.
Other camps will also receive top-flight instruction from BYU coaches — soccer by Jennifer Rockwood and Chris Watkins, golf by Bruce Brockbank, softball by Gordon Eakin and football by the Cougar staff.
Camps have varying schedules and are tailored to fit the needs of athletes from a wide range of ages and skill levels. Schedule, pricing and registration information is available at http://ce.byu.edu/cw/cwcamps.
