As I walked down Capitol Hill after church on Sunday, I passed through the overflow crowd of Hispanics who had come for the protest march. It made me wonder how the Egyptian economy must have suffered when all the Israelites left for the Promised Land. Thankfully, our present-day visitors want to stay. I hope they do. I support increased border security, including a fence if needed, but I also strongly support legislation that would put undocumented workers on the path to citizenship. The process of becoming a citizen should include a waiting period, a residency requirement, a work history, a background check, fines and an English language requirement.
