ST. GEORGE — Nearly 30,000 people are expected to stroll downtown St. George this Easter weekend to enjoy the city's annual outdoor arts festival.
Billed as "the Friendly Arts Festival," the event on Friday and Saturday includes works by 115 artists from throughout the region, as well as ethnic foods, local visual and performing arts, and children's craft activities.
"This is a community-oriented arts festival," said Gary Sanders, St. George's community-arts administrator. "It has what I would term a real down-home feeling. We try to treat our artists and the public very, very well. It's a lot of fun, even if you just like to window shop and people watch."
The two-day event typically draws visitors eager to shop for unique art forms displayed along the city's historic Main Street. Organizers close Main Street from 100 South to 50 North, which includes the roundabout at Tabernacle and Main, Sanders said.
Construction along St. George Boulevard continues, which means visitors need to reach the Arts Festival and the downtown parking garage via the east side of Tabernacle, Sanders advised.
