HILL AIR FORCE BASE — The U.S. Air Force's Thunderbirds made their first appearance at the Hill Air Force Base air show in 1956.

They've been back many times since and will fly again this year in what the base hails as "50 Years of Thunder."

The base's air show, which is free, is scheduled for June 10-11 and starts at 9 a.m. both days. Guests may bring lawn chairs and small coolers in order to spend the day with the Thunderbirds, Hill's Viper West F-16 demonstration team, Sean Tucker and Team Oracle, Greg Poe's custom-built Edge 540, Joe Brown's Jet-Powered Tank and an F-22 Raptor flyby.

But wait, there's more. A bunch of planes will be on display for viewing, and guests will be able to view other exhibits.
