Several Utah athletes represented the state well last weekend at the prestigious Arcadia Invitational. Utahns won five first-place prizes along with placing well in all divisions at the California meet.
In the Invited competition, Davis High's Ashlee Cannon had the highest finish, placing fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a run of 44.75. Judge Memorial's Samantha McMillan was fifth in the mile run. She turned in an under-5-minute mile, running a 4:59.95, the leading time in the state this year, according to Davis coach Roger Buhrley.
Judge's Colin Boevers also had a great showing the throwing events. He tossed the discus 181-09 for a fifth-place finish, while also throwing 57-04.5 in the shotput for sixth.
Fremont's Ryan Jones ran a 1:55.44 in the 800-meter run to finish seventh.
The Judge girls also blazed to fifth place in the sprint medley relay with a 4:15.01 and sixth in the distance medley with a combined time of 12:08.03.
In the Seeded events, Davis High's Candace Eddy won the mile competition in 5:02.09. Davis High also notched a first-place trophy from the foursome of Ashlee Cannon, Kourtney Sprague, Tara Anderson and Lauren Johnson, who finished the 4x200-meter relay in 1:43.48. They were fifth in the 4x100-meter relay at 48.76.
Judge's Alex Price also had a nice finish, taking seventh in the 300-meter hurdles with a run of 40.5.
In the Open category, Davis High's Jared Ward won the 3,200-meter race with a time of 9:30.72. Skyline's Connor Kamm ran a 4:25.69 mile to take fifth place.
Davis' Shannon Prince claimed first place in the both the shotput (38-10.5) and discus (130-0). Fellow Dart Ashlee Cannon took fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, getting clocked at 15.13.
