EAGLE MOUNTAIN — Public Works Director Mark Sovine announced Tuesday he will retire effective July 31.
Sovine, who held the position for four years, was responsible for managing the water, gas, sewer and electric systems of Eagle Mountain, which are all city-owned.
The Public Works Department also maintains the city's road infrastructure and parks. It operates on an annual budget of approximately $11 million and has more than two dozen employees.
"During his four years, Mark has been instrumental in helping the city meet the infrastructure needs inherent in our explosive growth," Mayor Brian Olsen said in a statement. "The public works staff has grown dramatically, and Mark has provided the leadership and guidance we've needed during these demanding times."
