Proponents of illegal immigrant deportation rely too heavily on the "illegal" argument. They don't realize that the current immigration debate is not about what the law is but what the law should be. The "illegal" argument doesn't add anything. It's circular and shallow.

It's time for proponents to abandon the argument and meet the economic, social and historical facts head on.
