OREM — An Orem man was arrested Wednesday and accused of abusing his girlfriend's 11-month-old baby.
The 30-year-old man on Feb. 19 allegedly held the baby over his head, causing the baby's head to hit the ceiling. The baby passed out twice, according to the police report filed in 4th District Court.
Later, when the baby's mother put the baby in his car seat, the child began to show seizure-like symptoms. The mother and her boyfriend took the child to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and were then transported to Primary Children's Medical Center.
While there, doctors identified a broken wrist, broken leg and broken ribs and concluded that the baby had suffered from trauma.
That's when police launched an investigation that led to his arrest.
The man was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of child abuse with injury on $20,000 cash-only bail.
