At left, Utah Lake State Park manager Ty Hunter, with a Utah County Search and Rescue boat in the background, scans Utah Lake for a floating mannequin representing a lost fisherman Friday. The exercise was part of a training session sponsored by Utah State Parks and Recreation, with members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary acting as instructors. The exercise emphasized the use of Global Positioning System technology, radar and search patterns in rescue attempts. Park rangers from around the state, the U.S. Forest Service, Utah County Search and Rescue and the National Park Service participated in the training.
