MURRAY — Restaurant Morelia is donating all proceeds, including tips, from Sunday brunch, April 23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., to the family of fallen Utah soldier Staff Sgt. Gregson Glenn Gourley.
The restaurant is located at 6098 S. State.
Manager David Gonzalez said the last such fund-raiser netted about $9,000 for a woman who needed a kidney transplant.
"That probably was the hardest working day we've ever had here," Gonzalez said.
Twenty members of Gonzalez's family and possibly 35 additional workers are expected to work for the Gourley fund-raiser.
Gourley died in February after a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee while he was on combat patrol near Hawijah, Iraq. He left behind a wife and four children.
"I thought a way to help them would be to do this," Gonzalez said. "We're a community — we have to help each other."
