ROY — Police are looking for a man who tried to lure a 7-year-old boy into his pick-up truck.

Detectives said the boy was walking near 4150 West and 5300 South about 7 p.m., Thursday night when he was approached by a man in a red, "low-rider" pick-up truck with pink and purple flames on the sides of it.

"He asked the boy if he wanted a ride. The boy said no, he lived around the corner," Roy Police Sgt. Danny Hammon said Friday. "The suspect told him to get in the vehicle and the boy turned and ran home."

Police said the attempted kidnapping was not reported until Friday because the boy's mother was unsure of what to do.

Police said the attempted kidnapper is described as a black male in his 20s, with a goatee and piercings above his eyebrow and upper lip. As of Friday, police said they had no leads on the suspect.
