The all-woman barbershop choir Mountain Jubilee Chorus is gearing up for its annual concert.

Spokeswoman and chorus member Janet Burch said the title "Everything Old Is New Again" says it all. "We will do some classic works and some newer works. We will also feature our guests, Voice Male."

In addition to the guest and chorus, other choirs will also perform, including New Day, Rip Chord, I Sing and Celebrate.

Choir director Tori Postma and assistant director Beth Bruce will lead the concert. "They will all do some singing as well," said Burch.

This year, the Mountain Jubilee Chorus has another reason to celebrate. On March 25 it won the Championship Chorus of Region Eight at a weekend competition in Colorado Springs, Colo. "There were 12 choirs competing from a seven-state region," said Burch. "We're going to perform our winning program during our concert on Saturday."

MJC has 90 singers. "But we are always looking for more. We want to get at least 120 singers when we go perform at Calgary in 2007.

"Any female singer interested in dressing up in flashy, rhinestone clothing and wearing thick makeup — and, of course, singing — are encouraged to show up at a rehearsal."

Rehearsals are held each Tuesday, 7-10 p.m. at the Sons of the Pioneers building, 3301 E. 2970 South.
