Touring shows and local productions of three New York hits are among this week's new stage offerings.
"LOST IN YONKERS," Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, is playing Friday through May 6 in the Heritage Theatre, 2505 S. Highway 89, Perry.
Director Scott Nelson's cast includes Devin Jackman and Devin C. Beard as brothers Jay and Arty, who are dumped by their traveling salesman father Eddie (Ross Reeder) with their curmudgeonly Grandma Kurnits (Sharon Johnson) and her 35-year-old daughter Bella (Melanie Anne Day).
Others in the cast are Allen Smith as Uncle Louie and Anne Reeder as Gert.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, with matinees at 2 p.m. on April 22 and May 6. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for children and senior citizens and $35 for a "Monday Family Night Special," admitting up to six immediate family members (435-723-8392).
"FOREVER PLAID," the popular off-Broadway musical revue featuring tunes from the 1950s and early '60s, is being staged for the Farmington City Arts Council's annual spring dinner-theater series.
Performances will be Thursdays-Saturdays at 7 p.m. this week and April 27-29 in the Farmington Community Arts Center, 120 S. Main. Tickets are $12 each, including performance and dinner, or $6 for the show only, available in advance at the city's Leisure Services office, 100 N. 720 West (451-0953, Ext. 4) or online at www.farmington.utah.gov (click on the "arts & events" link).
"WILL ROGERS FOLLIES: A LIFE IN REVUE" will play on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. only in the Ellen Eccles Theatre, 43 S. Main, Logan.
Now back on tour with an all new set and cast, the Tony Award-winning musical is built around Will Rogers' homespun humor and his career with the Ziegfeld Follies. Larry Gatlin was featured star of the earlier tour, but he is not part of the newly recast touring ensemble.
Tickets are $20, $29 and $35 (1-435-752-0026 or online at www.centerforthearts.us).
"THE SPENCERS: THEATRE OF ILLUSION," starring Kevin and Cindy Spencer and their Virginia-based touring company, has been described as a production that reaches "beyond the realm of a magic show and into the world of theatrical spectacle." The husband-and-wife duo has been called "modern-day Houdinis," with a high-tech show that combines drama, comedy, romance, suspense and illusions.
Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Ellen Eccles Theatre, Logan. Tickets are $10, 416 and $20 (435-752-0026).
"FIDDLER ON THE ROOF" will play from Friday through May 20 at the Academy of Performing Arts, 3188 S. 400 East. Performances are Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children and senior citizens, with group discounts available (898-2728 or 486-2728).
