I would just like to clear up a common misconception regarding the protesters outside Temple Square. Clark Roger Larsen asks why "those who want to yell and scream against the LDS Church outside of general conference are exercising free speech, but those who stand next to them and sing LDS hymns are offending those not of their faith" (Readers' Forum, April 8).

I don't think the argument has ever been about whether or not this type of protest is offensive. Most of my liberal friends would agree that it is. The argument is about whether or not people have a constitutional right to be offensive. I've never heard anyone complain about the Mormon singers there being offensive to other faiths. Personally, I think theirs is a great response.
