H. Hooper Mortensen 1915 ~ 2006 H. Hooper Mortensen, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2006. Although his health was failing during his last few years, he was ever thinking of others and enjoyed every opportunity to be with family and friends. He was born November 30, 1915 in Salt Lake City to Hemming C. Mortensen and Lillian Maude Hooper Mortensen. He was the second of six children. He married Marjorie Robins in the Logan LDS Temple on August 8, 1941. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Wilma Galbraith, Lillian Mangel, and a baby sister, Lorraine. He was grateful to the Lord for his many blessings, and was always an example of faithfulness to the gospel. He enjoyed his many church callings, which included Cub Scouts, YMMIA, Ward Clerk, Priesthood Executive Secretary, Stake Clerk and Stake High Council. Hooper served a mission for the Church in England, and the Elders he worked with in the Mission Office in London became his lifetime friends. He was a proud member of the Gordon Square group. During World War II he was assigned to the Reception Center at Fort Douglas, serving as Sergeant Major there and at the Separation Center after the end of the war. He was a successful entrepreneur, and had many talents which he used in his work. He was skilled in cabinet making and home improvement projects, and owned his own cabinet shop. He and Marjorie worked together in The Bride's Shop, and in managing the various apartment buildings they owned. His favorite vacations were cruises and trips in their motorhome, crossing the country from ocean to ocean and border to border. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a daughter, Patti (Bancroft) Gracey, and a son, David R. (Yvonne) Mortensen; three grandsons, Radley, Robert (Michelle), and Jeremy Marx; two granddaughters, Alicia (Rick) Loveridge and Aubrey (Robin) Salsman; and 10 great-grandchildren.
