Betty H. Durham 4/4/17 ~ 4/15/06 "Nana Betty" Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend danced peacefully through the veil April 15th, to join her soul mate, Wilby to celebrate their next adventure together. They were married September 2, 1938 and spent 62 wonderful years together. Betty was an accomplished dancer in her early years, and a patient and loving mother and grandmother in her later years. She was a graduate of the University of Utah in Physical Education, as well as a dance and swimming instructor. She also taught her children the skills needed to negotiate life. She was a friend to many, and enjoyed socializing with a large circle of her friends who were known as the "knitters". Her amazing spirit and her laughter will be missed by all who knew her. Betty and Wilby enjoyed skiing and the family cabin at Brighton, time spent at Bear Lake in the summers, their lovely home in Cottonwood, their many friends at the Cottonwood Club, winters in St. George golfing, and unscheduled trips to many parts "unknown" with her loving tour guide throughout Utah. She is survived by her children, Mary Ellen (Al Bailey), John (Shirley), Stephen (Valli) and Tim (Val); 10 grandchildren and 9-1/2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilby; her parents; and three brothers. We wish to thank the staff and caregivers at Highland Care Center for the unconditional love and excellent care they gave to our mother while she was with them. Also thanks to the staff at Wellington Assisted Living for their love and care. Please join us for a celebration of her life Thursday, April 20th at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services at 12:00 noon.
