Peter Orr "Budd" On April 11, 2006, Peter "Budd" Orr suddenly and unexpectedly died while on a work assignment in Southern California. Although his time on earth was tragically cut short, Budd lived a life dedicated to his wife, family and Savior. Born December 22, 1966 to Creta Susan and Vernon Peter Calkins Sr. in Boise, Idaho, Budd grew up enjoying the backwoods and mountains of Idaho. His fishing and camping expeditions continued as he moved to Utah graduating from Taylorsville High School in 1985. After high school, Budd earned All-American football honors as a Dixie Rebel, finishing his career anchoring the defensive line for the BYU Cougars. Following college, this 6'6 280 lb gridiron star, showed his true manhood at the young age of 24 as he accepted the responsibility of raising his new bride, Frieda's, four children. His towering presence, his love for his Savior, and his undeniable role as patriarch and heart of the family, resulted in a close-knit loving family united in the gospel. During these years, Budd was a successful entrepreneur; building and running the "Desert Sno" concession buildings that dotted the country. He could design and build anything, including many pieces of art and furniture for his wife and children. Even though he accomplished much, Budd's true passion in life was his family. A giant of a man, Budd had a quiet demeanor with a soft heart and a warm personality. His "over the top" humor resulted in many infamous childish pranks aimed at his wife and children. He loved cooking his family his specialty dishes, whether it was his spaghetti, enchiladas, or chocolate chip cookies. He loved attending and coaching his children's' sporting events. He loved being a grandfather. Although he went home to his Father before the age of forty, Budd lived a full and happy life. His final accomplishment occurred this past February as he was sealed to his wife and children for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Budd's life, spirit and love will forever be remembered and cherished in the lives of those he loved. As Maddy would say, "we love you mur." Rest with our Father above, and God be with you till we meet again. Bud is preceded in death by his niece, Heather. He is survived by the love of his life, Frieda; their children, Nikki (Joel), Shantel (Troy), Jennifer (Chris), Taylor (Jill), Lacey, Maddeline, and Broadrick; his grandchildren, Sabrina, Sophie, Kaden and Zoey; his parents, Vernon "Bud" and Creta Susan; his siblings, Frank (Carol), Tamara (Chuck), Deborah (James), Daniel (Rebecca), David (Bomi), Creta Ann and Brandon (Candace); as well as many more loving family members and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 18, 2006 at the Union Fort 7th Ward chapel (6770 S 500 E). Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery (3115 E 7800 S). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Peter "Budd" account at Utah First Credit Union.
