Faunt Elwyn Montgomery 1920 ~ 2006 CLEARFIELD - Faunt Elwyn Montgomery, 85, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 after suffering two strokes. He was born September 18, 1920, in Yost, Utah, the son of James Nathaniel and Mary Howell Montgomery. The family moved to West Point in 1927. He was raised in a wonderful loving home where music was part of his family life and their combined talents had the children singing at many events including singing over the radio station KLO. He attended West Point Elementary and graduated from Davis High. He served an honorable mission in the Western States. He married Beth Belnap Fowers, May 28, 1943, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised one daughter and three sons and moved to Clearfield in 1949. Mr. Montgomery retired from civil service after 30 years at Hill Air Force Base and living another 31 years with his life being filled with unselfish service to others. In his younger years he loved playing volleyball. One year the team won All Church Championship. He also played softball and loved to golf, winning many tournaments. Mr. Montgomery was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Clearfield Fifth Ward. He had many opportunities to serve in several callings including Bishop, High Council, and one of his favorite blessings was the 13 years he spent as a temple worker and supervisor in the Ogden Temple. He was a man of integrity possessing a pure heart and a tender spirit. He was an example to everyone regarding his faithfulness in keeping his covenants. He possessed a strong testimony of the gospel his entire life and had a smile that would light up any room. He had a great love for life and his many friends. His noticeable determination and hard work enabled him to succeed in all his life endeavors. He is survived by his four children, Connie Gibbs, Fruit Heights; Ronald (Sue), Salt Lake City; Wayne, Roy; and Clair, Ogden; and a growing treasury of 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beth; his parents; and all his brothers, Wayne, Rollan, Leland, Reese, Chester, Hughie, Anthon; and one sister, Alta Gibson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 20th at 11 a.m. in the Clearfield Fifth Ward Chapel, 838 East 600 South, Clearfield, Utah. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contribution be made to the LDS Church Temple or Perpetual Education Funds.
