Bettylou G. Bean 1934 ~ 2006 Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bettylou Gordon Bean, returned to the loving arms of her sweet husband April 15, 2006. Bettylou was born July 25, 1934 in Pleasant Grove, Utah the oldest of five children born to Junious and Helen Johnson Gordon. They lived in several locations including Provo and Santaquin. Bettylou graduated with honors from Payson High School, where she was involved in drama and speech. She married the love of her life, James L. Bean, November 25, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. While her husband served an LDS mission and immediately following served in the army, Bettylou attended and graduated from BYU in education. She taught school while Jim attended the U of U. In 1990 she started her own company, Hillside Business Systems, Inc. where she and her sweetheart worked side by side. Service was a talent that she magnified throughout her life. Many people have benefited from her anonymous acts of kindness. As a faithful member of the LDS Church she especially enjoyed her numerous service opportunities in Relief Society. She found great joy in her children and grandchildren. She passed on to them a deep love of music. She loved singing in a trio both with her mother and sister, and later with her daughters. Bettylou is survived by her six children, Sharyl (Bill) Wren, Jana (Wes) Van Dyke, Gordon (Shauna) Bean, Brent (Gaylynn) Bean, Roger Bean, Alayne (Neal) Randall; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one expected; one sister, Janice (Rafael) Castillo; two brothers, JD (Florence) Gordon, Stan (Ellen) Gor-don; and one sister-in-law, Monteen Gordon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James L. Bean; her parents; and a brother, Richard Gordon. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Elk Ridge 3rd Ward building, 259 Alpine Drive. Family and friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, in Spanish Fork Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Salem City Cemetery.
