Adam Bass's letter about anti-gay claims not adding up (Readers' Forum, April 15) doesn't give the complete story. Based on a series of studies, we know that gays and lesbians experience depression, suicide, drug abuse and partner abuse at rates much higher than our society's norms. We also know that contrary to some claims, gays actually number around 3 to 4 percent of the population, not 10 percent.
Finally, what some "anti-gays" see as their biggest fear is having gay views and values pushed on them. We see this happening with more frequency in Canada and Massachusetts.
