Kathryn M. Sorich (Forum, April 8) was right about many things that are a crime. One crime she didn't list is when parents continually make excuses for the poor decisions their children make. Instead of blaming others in her daughter's case, why not try to keep other children from making the poor choices that led to her daughter's death?

Let's avoid another tragedy instead of continually blaming someone else for this one.
