SANDY — A man was killed and a young woman seriously injured Sunday night when they were thrown from a motorcycle after it hit a curb on Wasatch Boulevard.

Sandy Police Lt. John Eining said speed may have been a factor in the accident, which occurred at 7:12 p.m. on a curve at about 11500 South.

The man, a Utah resident believed to be either 26 or 28, was pronounced dead at the scene, Eining said. His name was not released Sunday, pending notification of family members.

The woman, a Sandy resident in either her late teens or early 20s, was taken by ambulance to Alta View Hospital in serious condition, Eining said.
