A week ago, my wife and I had stopped at a local restaurant for a light lunch. A man came over and said he noticed we had flag pins on our lapels. He said he felt I was part of the greatest generation that Tom Brokaw wrote about. He wanted to thank me for the service I had given to our country. I told him that I had served in the Navy during World War ll. At this point, he placed some money on the table and said that he wanted to buy our lunch. My wife and I sat there with tears in our eyes and a lump in our throats. We did not know this man but thanked him very much for his kindness.

There are still many good and thoughtful people in this world.
