OGDEN — Andy Jensen, 32, who has served as an assistant coach on the Weber State University men's basketball staff for the past five years, has been named the head men's basketball coach at Northwest College in Powell, Wyo.

Jensen served as an assistant coach for five seasons under former WSU head coach Joe Cravens and was retained by new head coach Randy Rahe when he took over on March 23, 2006.

"This was in the works before Coach Rahe was hired and I was up front with him about it from the first day he decided to keep me on the staff," said Jensen. "Coach Rahe has been very supportive during the past three weeks and I have nothing but great respect for him. I know he and his staff will do a great job here in Ogden. I have tremendous feelings for Weber State and in my heart I will always be a Wildcat."

Jensen will begin his duties at Northwest College on August 1, 2006. In the meantime he will remain on the Wildcat staff throughout the Spring.

"This is a great opportunity for Andy," said Rahe. "I have been extremely impressed with his organizational skills and knowledge of the game in such a short period of time. I am really glad we are going to have him around for awhile longer to help us get settled in and organized."
