SANDY — A man was rescued Monday after being trapped inside his truck for nearly a half-hour with charged power lines dangling over his vehicle.

Just before 12:30 p.m. a semi-truck driver was making a turn onto State Street at 9400 South when his trailer caught a wire hanging too low, said Sandy Police Sgt. Victor Quezada.

As the vehicle rounded the corner, it pulled the wires and the entire pole down, leaving the high voltage wires dangling over his cab.

"He knew to stay in, which was a smart move," Quezada said.

The power company was called and had power to the area turned off about a half-hour later. The man was then able to get out of his truck uninjured.
