Cyclist who died ID'd as a South Jordan man

SANDY — The name of the man killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday night has been released.

Steven Nicholls, 28, of South Jordan, died after being thrown from a motorcycle and hitting a light pole. A woman, 22-year-old Lacie Davis of Sandy, also was on the motorcycle. She was taken to a local hospital and later released in good condition.

Neither was wearing a helmet.

The motorcycle was rounding a curve on Wasatch Boulevard near 11500 South when it hit a curb, tossing the occupants from the bike.

Investigators believe speed was a big factor in the accident, said Sandy police Sgt. Victor Quezada.
