The Better Business Bureau of Utah is warning homeowners to be wary of home improvement scams this spring.
The bureau said springtime is when less-than-reputable or unqualified contractors promise a variety of services at cut-rate prices.
The bureau often receives complaints about high-pressure sales tactics, confusion over contract terms, poor workmanship, incomplete job performance, overcharging and, in some cases, home foreclosures.

Among bureau advice is to employ a contractor with an established business, get a written contract prior to the start of work and arrange for payments — by check or credit card and never cash — to be made as portions of the job are completed.
