SOFTBALL: The Utah Valley State softball team hopes to get back into the win column today when it plays at BYU at 6 p.m. This is the first meeting between the two schools this season. Utah Valley has yet to beat the BYU in softball.
The Wolverines (13-29) and coming off two tough losses at SUU on Tuesday. Rachel Hartgrove is the leader in nearly every offensive category for the Wolverines. She has five home runs, 25 RBIs and is hitting .336 on the year.
BYU (30-14) picked up two wins at Utah State Tuesday.

BASEBALL: League-leading TCU, with the nation's No. 1 strikeout pitching staff, starts a three-game series today at BYU. TCU won the first meeting this year with BYU (15-20, 3-4) at the preseason tournament in San Diego.
TCU's pitchers average 9.8 strikeouts a game, which leads the nation. TCU is scheduled to start Jake Arrieta (8-3, 2.38 ERA) against BYU's Mitch Woolf (0-1, 9.00 ERA) Thursday at 7 p.m. There will be a fireworks show following the game.
SOFTBALL: Ianeta Le'i was named the Mountain West Conference player of the week. The Oahu, Hawaii, native set career highs for home runs in a season (14) and RBIs in a season (55) with 16 games remaining. Last week, Le'i belted six home runs in six games, doubled twice and tallied 19 RBIs. She is now within five RBIs of tying a school record for RBIs in a season. She's batting .516 in 10 MWC games so far.
