Carvell G. Smith 1919 ~ 2006 Carvell George Smith of Bennion, Utah, passed away April 5, 2006. Born November 29, 1919 in Centerville, Utah, to Farris and Leona George Smith and made Bennion his life long home. He married Donna Latham on February 24, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He grew up on a family nursery and learned about growing evergreens and fruit trees with his family. He never lost his love for gardening nor his passion for tinkering. Veteran of the US Navy, World War II, serving in the South Pacific (Admiralties Islands) as a ship repairman. He later retired from Kennecott Copper Corp. as a carman welder. His children have fond memories of yearly camping and fishing trips to Yellowstone National Park with family and friends. He is survived by his children: Mark (Jean), Dale (Judy), Wayne (Nancy), Lynn (Gerrie), Kelly (Heidi), Ted and Becky (Steve) Tidwell; brothers, Merrill (Lue) and Jim (Geri) all live in the Utah area. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Latham Smith; son, Eldon, parents; great grandson, Bryse; brother, Dean; sister, Arlyne. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 8, at 12 p.m. at the Bennion 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 6100 South Kamas Drive (2480 West). A viewing will be held Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4300 South Redwood Road and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment, Centerville City Cemetery. We wish to express thanks to the staff and friends at Care Source Hospice Center and Dr. Hamp of Jordan Valley Hospital for the loving care and support they gave to our Dad.
