PATS SIGN GRAMATICA: Kicker Martin Gramatica, who was out of football all of last season, was signed by New England Thursday as a potential replacement for the departed Adam Vinatieri. The Patriots also signed safety Tebucky Jones, who was one of their two first-round draft picks in 1998 but was traded away four years ago.

BUSH VISITS TEXANS: Reggie Bush hasn't asked the Houston Texans whether they will use the No. 1 overall pick in the draft to choose him, but he's 99.9 percent certain he'll go first. The double-talk was dizzying during the Heisman Trophy-winning running back's first visit to Houston on Thursday to meet with coaches and players.

"I haven't directly asked them that question," Bush said. "They're excited for this upcoming draft and that they're excited for me to be a Texan." Bush said Thursday's discussions were productive and focused on what his role would be — carrying the ball and returning punts and kickoffs.

SAINTS TRADE GANDY: The New Orleans Saints traded veteran tackle Wayne Gandy to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday in exchange for safety Bryan Scott. The Falcons also agreed to give the Saints a future conditional draft choice in exchange for Gandy. Scott, who is entering his fourth NFL season, has started 35 of 47 career games at both safety and cornerback for Atlanta.
